Steve Leyland  

Dr Steve Leyland has recently conducted Research on single crystal alloy development operating at high temperature oxidation applications in gas turbine engines at Cambridge University on behalf of Rolls-Royce Plc. gas turbine engines. Currently employed as Group Technical Director of Jiangyin Uni-Pol Ltd who annually manufacture 6million+ hot end turbocharger turbine wheels. Previous positions were at Honeywell Turbo Technologies as the global supply base manager for turbocharger wheel manufacture and as Technical Director of Doncaster’s Trucast Ltd foundries. Early positions in the aerospace industry were held at Rolls-Royce Plc. Bristol and Derby as a Research Engineer in manufacture of single crystal turbine blade and nozzle guide vanes. Educated with a first Degree at Brunel University London 1988 in Materials Science and Technology, and awarded a PhD at Cambridge University researching “Casting of Single Crystal Nickel Base Superalloy with Reactive Elements Y and La.Fellow of the IOM3 and Fellow of the Royal 1851 Commission. Past President of the European Investment Casters’ Federation and current EICF Board member.
